Things really seem to be progressing full steam ahead regarding Guillermo Del Toro's upcoming vampire drama, 'The Strain.' First it was granted a 13-episode order on FX last month; then it released its very first trailer; and now it's even adding impressive guest stars to its lineup — the most recent being Regina King.
According to Deadline, the actress has nabbed a recurring role on the supernatural series as Ruby Wain, the smart and accomplished manager of philandering rock star Gabriel Bolivar (Jack Kesy). No further details about her character have been released, however, given the fact that the show centers around a highly contagious virus that turns humans into bloodthirsty vampires when infected, there's a good chance King could fall victim to the undead epidemic.
The network has also nabbed Melanie Merkosky in a recurring role as Jim Kent’s (Sean Astin) wife Sylvia, who is suffering from cancer. Suffice to say, there won't be any happy endings (or supernatural love triangles, we imagine) for these characters anytime soon. Contagious diseases are just the worst, you guys.
Are you looking forward to seeing what King will bring to the series? Do you plan on tuning in or are you all vampired out? Sound off on your thoughts in the comments below!
'The Strain' is set to debut in July 2014.
