WATCH: BBC One's ‘Death Comes to Pemberley’ Teaser Trailer
What do you get when you combine Matthew Rhys, Matthew Goode, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Bennett? You get the BBC One production of ‘Death Comes to Pemberley’ based on the novel by P.D. James.
The three-part miniseries takes place six years into Mr. Darcy (‘The Americans’ Matthew Rhys) and Elizabeth Darcy nee Bennett’s (Anna Maxwell Martin) marriage (spoiler alert for those who’ve never read the 'Pride and Prejudice' novel or watched the several TV and movie adaptations, which I highly suggest doing).
Unlike the Jane Austen novel, this story is filled with more suspense and mystery. While Elizabeth and Darcy are planning their annual ball, Elizabeth’s troublesome and scandalous sister Lydia Wickham (‘Doctor Who’s Jenna Coleman) arrives bringing shock and a murder investigation to Pemberley, the Darcys magnificent estate. Matthew Goode, who recently booked a major gig on ‘The Good Wife,’ also joins the series as George Wickham, Lydia’s husband.
BBC One recently released a hot teaser trailer for the anticipated mini-event. Be sure to check out the trailer below, because not only do you get to see Rhys and Goode in action, but you also get to hear their fabulous accents. Swoon!
Will you tune in to the series based on some of the most iconic characters of literature? ‘Death Comes to Pemberley’ begins Thursday, Dec. 26 in the U.K, and will come to PBS’ Masterpiece sometime in 2014.
