On June 19 of this year, the world was forced to say goodbye to a true Hollywood legend, James Gandolfini, who tragically died of a heart attack at the age of 51. It was a great loss not only for the Hollywood community, but for the world as well. So in honor of his memory, HBO has announced that it plans to pay homage to the late Emmy-winning actor with a retrospective special before the end of the year.
Titled 'James Gandolfini: Tribute to a Friend,' the presentation will premiere on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 8:35 p.m. and have a 35-minute runtime, which will include original reflections from more than two dozen friends and colleagues who knew Gandolfini best. The network will also provide clips of his work, as well as some special behind-the-scenes footage.
It's a fitting honor to bestow on such a beloved and talented star, especially coming from the HBO family, who served as Gandolfini's home network during his long-running gig on 'The Sopranos.' So whether you're an admirer of his work or simply wish to know more about this Hollywood treasure, we highly recommend tuning in to this much deserved tribute.
Just like many great icons before him, Gandolfini may be gone, but he'll never be forgotten.
'James Gandolfini: Tribute to a Friend' will air Sunday, Dec. 22 at 8:35/7:35c on HBO.
