Come March, ‘Glee’ will be getting some Academy Award-winning approval, as Marlee Matlin has signed up to guest on the FOX musical dramedy.
While the announcement has since been officially confirmed, Matlin more or less broke the news by tweeting pictures of her on set and with the some of the cast members. The acclaimed actress, who is noted for her talents as well as the fact that she is deaf, will portray herself on a forthcoming episode, as she will be one of the judges during the Nationals competition for glee club.
“Look where I’m working for the next few days," tweeted Matlin on the afternoon of Dec. 17, attaching a picture of her sitting in a Glee-embroidered chair. In another message, she sent out a picture of her with three costars, the young and talented Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss, and Skylar Astin, who is also a guest during Nationals.
Matlin, who can currently be seen on ABC Family’s ‘Switched at Birth,’ will join the list of previous judges on the show including Perez Hilton, Kathy Griffin, Loretta Devine, and Lindsay Lohan.
On hiatus at the moment, with their most recent episode a previously unaired holiday story, one that is a timeline aberration, ‘Glee’ will return on Feb. 25 as Season 5 continues. What’s more, its much-anticipated 100th episode is set for March 18. That milestone will welcome back former cast members Dianna Agron and Heather Morris, as well as Mark Salling, Amber Riley, Harry Shum, and Kristen Chenoweth.
Earlier this fall, creator Ryan Murphy confirmed that Season 6 will conclude the series.
‘Glee’ returns to FOX on Tuesday, Feb. 25 at 8/7c.
