Rashida Jones, along with her writing/producing partner, Will McCormack, are proving they are a force to be reckoned with on the upcoming TV pilot scene. The team, through their Warner Bros. TV-based Le Train Train production company, has landed yet another pilot.
The pair has pilot commitments at a few networks already, but now they’re getting into the cable game with a single-camera half-hour series lined up at HBO. The series is set in a nail salon and is called, fittingly, ‘Claws.’ The project is described as a noirish workplace dramedy and will focus on the mysterious and dangerous women who work there (never trust an angry woman with a nail file!).
Jones, of course, knows a thing or two when it comes to a workplace comedy with eccentric characters. In addition to her guest stints alongside the screwballs on NBC’s ‘The Office,’ she also has a starring role on the peacock network’s ‘Parks & Recreation.’ In the latter, she will make her swan song in the thirteenth episode of the current season, which probably explains why she’s got all this free time to write and develop projects.
Eliot Laurence (‘The Big Gay Sketch Show’) will write and co-executive produce the HBO dramedy, with Jones and McCormack exec-producing.
In addition to ‘Claws,’ the pair has sold the estrogen-fueled 'Girls Without Boys’ at ABC, 'Stuck' to FOX as well as 'The Revengers' (formerly titled the much better 'Ladyballs') to The CW.
