'The Good Wife' has a new Boss. The Boss. The Sexiest Boss. I digress. As part of a promotional tie-in with 'The Good Wife,' Bruce Springsteen's (yes, that Boss) latest album, 'High Hopes,' will debut exclusively on CBS' official website, streaming ahead of its Jan. 14 release on Columbia Records. The popular legal series will also feature music from the new album in an upcoming episode.
CBS.com will begin hosting the stream of the new album on Jan. 5 at 7 p.m. EST following the Sunday broadcast of 'The Good Wife', along with a special preview of the Jan. 12 episode of the hit drama. That episode, entitled "We, the Juries," will feature new Springsteen tracks "High Hopes," "Hunter of Invisible Game" and a re-recorded "The Ghost of Tom Joad."
The move is a first in the music marketing world and comes a little over a week after Amazon accidentally released and removed 'High Hopes' from its mobile site. It looks like the Boss' camp is looking to make a big splash after that snafu and this ploy might do the trick.
"We love using music in 'The Good Wife,' and we always have the music inform the action and the cutting," Robert King and Michelle King, executive producers and creators of 'The Good Wife,' said in a press statement. "So when the Bruce Springsteen songs became available, we couldn't believe our luck. We wished we could use the whole album."
And I wished they could have used a cameo of Springsteen himself along with the tunes.
'The Good Wife' airs Sundays at 9/8c on CBS.
