Lifetime's strategy of promoting its new series The Client List entirely around Jennifer Love Hewitt's considerable sex appeal seems to have worked. The show is getting some great ratings for the network, and as EW.com now reports, is attracting some big name guest stars.
The currently ultra-hot Betty White (star of Hot In Cleveland on TV Land, and Off Their Rockers on NBC) has signed up to appear on the season finale of the freshman drama, which is scheduled to air on Sunday, June 10th at 10pm EST.
For those who don't know, The Client List stars JLH as single mother Riley Parks, who is forced to work at a "massage parlor" called The Rub to make ends meet after her husband abandons her and the kids. I think it's fairly obvious why she was cast in a role like this. If someone that looked like her worked at a brothel, it would be the most successful brothel in the country. Hewitt will certainly have her hands full during production, as she'll not only be acting opposite one of the funniest women in the history of TV, she'll be directing her too. This will be her first directorial effort since she helmed a few episodes of her previous series Ghost Whisperer.
Betty will be portraying a character named Ruth Gibbons, who's actually the wife of one of her clients. Instead of the angry reaction you might expect when they meet, Gibbons not only knows about her spouse's visits to the establishment, but is fine with them. This part seems tailor made for White, and I wouldn't be surprised if it was written specifically for her. If there's an actress who can pull off the role of the sexually liberated, innuendo spouting older woman better than White, I've yet to find her.
Do you think Betty White's trip to The Client List will end with Lifetime getting a happy ending? Or do you just wish she would go away already?
