Amazon Prime Acquires 'Veronica Mars' Series

Amazon Prime Acquires 'Veronica Mars'

Yup. That's right, more great news surrounding 'Veronica Mars.' Today, Amazon announced that it has secured the exclusive rights to stream 'Veronica Mars' via Amazon Prime. That means, today, you can start your binge on 'Veronica,' transport yourself to Neptune, Calif., and get pumped to watch all three seasons before the movie releases on March 14.

'Veronica Mars' first premiered in 2004, on the now non-existant, UPN network. The show, created by Rob Thomas, follows a streetsmart girl with heart (tagline) who moonlights as a private investigator.

Amazon exec Brad Beale announced in a statement, “The 'Veronica Mars' series has been popular on DVD and Amazon Instant Video for years, so we know how much Amazon customers love this iconic television show. We are excited to become the exclusive subscription streaming home for 'Veronica Mars' and to be able to offer the entire TV series to Prime members to enjoy at no additional charge.”

Amazon Prime is a $79-per-year program (approx. $6.50 a month) that includes instant video, and free two-day shipping from the Amazon store. In comparison, Amazon's competitor Netflix, offers a $6.99 per-month deal for new customers, and $7.99 per-month for more seasoned members.

FYI, for those who are on the fence about purchasing Amazon Prime -- 'Downton Abbey' is also exclusive to Prime. Yes, I highly recommend that you reschedule your eight-hours of sleep, and watch Season 1 of 'Veronica Mars' tonight. At least, that is my plan. And, I'll hashtag it, #nosleepformars.
