Fans of the TV institution that is Saturday Night Live have had lots of reasons to smile lately. The current (37th!) season has seemed to raise the show's stock a bit when compared to recent years. The ratings and critical reviews have both been pretty good, and SNL has had one of the biggest lineups of celebrity hosts in recent memory.
From starting the season with veteran Alec Baldwin, to featuring the new comedy sensation Melissa McCarthy, to spotlighting breakout comic actor Jason Segel, to scoring Hollywood "it" girls like Katy Perry, Zooey Deschanel, Lindsay Lohan & Modern Family's Sofia Vergara, all the way to making magic with Harry Potter himself, Daniel Radcliffe, the stars have been out in force this past year.
This weekend begins a triple shot of three straight new episodes, the first being hosted by 2012 Super Bowl champion quarterback Eli Manning, and now next Saturday will see a beloved SNL alumnus return to host the show for only the third time.
Fresh off of the recent announcement that the long-awaited Anchorman 2 has finally been greenlit, Ferrell and his fans are riding high, and I think it might not be out of the question to actually have famed newsman Ron Burgundy make an appearance in person as well. Joining Ferrell will be musical guest Usher, also making his third trip to SNL. There's still no word on who will host the big season finale, but it's a pretty safe bet that it will be another big name.
Will you tune in to watch Will Ferrell's return to SNL? Will you be watching for Usher? Or do you just not care about SNL anymore?
