NBC is upping its comedy game this pilot season by ordering two new series from two very funny ladies: Casey Wilson (‘Happy Endings’) and Rashida Jones ('Parks and Recreation').
Wilson, along with her writing and producing partner, June Diane Raphael, will write and executive-produce, ‘Mason Twins.’ The single-camera comedy series revolves around estranged fraternal twins, Pender and Lizzie, who reunite after Lizzie’s city life falls apart and she moves back to her suburban hometown only to discover that Pender really hasn’t grown up much since high school.
Wilson and Raphael also have the curiously-titled ‘DINKS’ pilot (it’s just an acronym, folks!) set up at ABC.
Jones is exec-producing the romantic comedy, ‘A to Z,’ which takes place at an online dating company and details the “As to Zs” of relationships (the Zs aren’t all that bad, especially if you’re really tired).
Jones, along with her producing partner, Will McCormack, are sizing up to be the most sought-after comedy duo this pilot season across the board. In addition to ‘A to Z,’ the pair also sold the estrogen-fueled 'Girls Without Boys’ at ABC, 'Stuck' to FOX, 'The Revengers' (formerly titled the much better 'Ladyballs') to The CW, in addition to ‘Claws’ over at HBO.
