'Da Vinci's Demons' Gets Season 2 Premiere Date, New Trailer
The historical and fantastical drama ‘Da Vinci’s Demons,’ following an impressive inaugural campaign, has been given a Season 2 release date and a promise by its creator of darker things to come.
The David S. Goyer-created series will premiere on Starz on Saturday, March 22 at 9/8c. The network gave the series a second season renewal following its potent debut last April.
Starring Tom Riley as the titular scientist, inventor, and adventurer Leonardo Da Vinci, the show follows the famed genius in his bold (and wild) younger days. He is 25, quick-witted, passionate, idealistic, and inclined to get into some shady circumstances. The series is dubbed as the ‘untold story,’ delving into years where Da Vinci’s whereabouts and exploits belong to rumor and speculation.
This season finds Florence in chaos, and Da Vinci continuing his search for a mythical artifact, a quest that takes the explorer to South America.
During the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour, Goyer told reporters that this year will be less linear, and find Da Vinci hopefully maturing, “The first season was set up and now the engines are running and things are getting a bit more complicated.”
What’s more, the look to more fantasy elements embraced, and the introduction of new historical figures, given their own twists.
Just as noteworthy, Goyer promised too a “fair amount of romp.”
In addition to a premiere date, Starz also released a new photos and an in-depth new trailer. In the teases, we can see Da Vinci giving a smoldering stare, and being lead to what looks like either a really bad party or his death by a group of rather serious women.
Then of course there is much more to get curious about in the trailer below.
