'Once Upon a Time's midseason finale left the fate of many of our beloved characters up in the air, giving fans plenty to chew on over the holiday season. But while there's still several weeks between now and the series' March return, that doesn't mean we can't treat ourselves to a few teasers in the meantime.
TVGuide's William Keck was able to chat with executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz to get a preview of what's brewing during the second half of the season.
[WARNING: Season 3 plot spoilers abound!]
As we previously saw in the promo, The Wicked Witch of the West ('Lost's Rebecca Mader) will be landing in Storybrooke come the March 9 episode and will apparently share ties with two familiar faces. Along with finding out what exactly caused the bewitching character to turn green in the first place, viewers can even expect to be introduced to the wonderful Wizard himself.
"There might be some other surprises along the yellow brick road," Kitsis teases. "We're setting up the fight of all fights: Evil Queen versus Wicked Witch!"
The episode will also incorporate Ginnifer Goodwin's real-life pregnancy into the Snow White/Prince Charming storyline. (The on-and-off-screen couple are expecting their first child later this year.) And it seems the baby will have a connection to the impending progeny of Sleeping Beauty (Sarah Bolger) and Prince Phillip (Julian Morris), though the producers promise it won't involve a baby switch.
Meanwhile, Emma (Jennifer Morrison) will encounter a mysterious stranger in New York City (Covert Affairs' Christopher Gorham) while Charming plays hero to Rapunzel (Alexandra Metz) who's found atop a high tower. And we already know of a certain French candlestick that will be dropping by to chat with Belle (Emilie de Ravin).
But most importantly, fans can look forward to a grand season-finale wedding, though the bride and groom's identities still remain unknown. Could it be Belle and Rumple? Emma and Hook? Ariel and Eric? Right now, it's anyone's guess, but one thing's for certain: it's bound to be magical.
'Once Upon a Time' returns on Sunday, March 9 at 8/7c on ABC.
