Looks like NBC and ‘Best Friends Forever’, didn’t manage to remain friends for long. In fact, NBC changed the meaning of the word forever when; it cut short the flight of its new comedy “Best Friends Forever” even before it could finish one season. The show as a matter of fact had to suffer the indignity of being pulled off the air, without it even being allowed to telecast its last two episodes. The show for its last two episodes is being replaced with “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers”, which is a hidden-camera show, which features old people playing pranks on the young. The premise although not very interesting, was thought by NBC to be certainly more viewer worthy than ‘Best Friends Forever’.
It has to be added though that, ‘Best Friends Forever’ wasn’t really a show anyone was expecting to stick around for the long haul, but to be pulled out mid season is an achievement, not too many shows would like to boast about. As a matter of fact, there are very few shows that come to recent memory in which, a network has shown such urgency in pulling it off the air. The show premiered on April 4th and it must be said that it conjured up decent numbers of about 3.9 million viewers on its premier.
But it also augers mention that, in its telecast which was this week, the show actually managed to shed more than one million viewers. Well, when it comes to the negatives the show surely seems to be right up there with some of the biggest turkeys TV has ever seen. It can only be hope that; the show doesn’t prove to be a black mark in the careers of all those who were involved with it.
