Fresh off of a recent production deal with FX, actor/comedian Louis C.K. (star of the network's beloved sitcom 'Louie') is preparing to help another standup superstar cross into the world of cable comedy.
Zach Galifianakis, star of the blockbuster 'Hangover' trilogy of films and host of the hilarious 'Funny or Die' talk show 'Between Two Ferns,' is set to create and star in an as yet untitled comedy pilot for the cable giant, one which he will co-write and produce with C.K. The actual premise of the pilot is still being formulated, but with these two involved, there is almost no way it won't be a huge hit.
This order is the first to come out of the aforementioned production deal struck between FX and C.K.'s company Pin Newton. When he originally signed the pact last month, Louis was clear on his intention to use his newfound resources to assist fellow comics with the development of their own star vehicles.
Few people are more familiar than C.K. with how hard it can be for a successful standup comedian to make the transition to television stardom, and while Galifianakis is obviously not hurting for work nowadays, he already has four failed TV series on his resume. It makes sense that he would team up with a proven series lead like Louis for this latest venture. Here's hoping viewers get another show as sharply written as 'Louie' out of the deal.
This just in: Right as this article was preparing to go to press, news broke from the annual TCA gathering that 'Louie' itself will be returning to FX in May. No further details have been released as of yet, but be sure to stay tuned to TVRage for any future developments.
