Last year's 'How I Met Your Mother' season finale produced one of the series' biggest, most important reveals — the true identity of Ted's future wife. But the mystery doesn't completely end there.
TVLine reports that during Wednesday night's 'HIMYM's TCA farewell reception, co-creators Craig Thomas and Carter Bays confirmed that next Monday's episode of the CBS sitcom will finally divulge the names of Ted and The Mother's son and daughter — who are played by David Henrie and Lyndsy Fonseca, respectively.
We'd say it's amazing that fans have gone nearly nine full seasons without ever knowing the kids' names, but this is a show about a dad that's been telling his offspring the longest, most inappropriate love story in history, so this is really just par for the course. And while it may not be as big of a reveal as The Mother was, it'll still be pretty interesting to find out. Knowing Ted, the names will probably mean something significant. (Anyone else really like the name MacLaren? No? Just me?)
But that's not all Thomas and Bays wanted to share. They also announced that the title of the March 31 series finale is called "Last Forever," which sounds just as sappy and romantic as Ted Mosby would want it to be. You may want to have a handful of tissues at the ready, just in case.
The pair additionally mentioned that three more names have been added to the show’s alumni parade as the series prepares to take its final bow. Rachel Bilson, Sarah Chalke, and Lucy Hale will all be making appearances at some point during the remaining episodes, which will probably not be awkward at all. In the words of Barney Stinson, it's going to be legen — WAIT FOR IT — dary.
'How I Met Your Mother' airs on Mondays at 8/7c on CBS.
