Kyle Chandler is officially making his way back to the small screen! Deadline exclusively reports that the former 'Friday Night Lights' star has just signed on to star in a 13-episode drama series on Netflix.
This psychological thriller will center around a family of adult siblings whose secrets and scars are revealed when the black sheep oldest brother returns home. Chandler has been nabbed to play the married middle brother who takes care of the family, very much like a father figure.
As of now, the show is currently untitled, though one could argue that only helps to add another level of mystery to the series, which feels very symbolic of the project itself. Additionally, 'Damages' creators Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler have been assigned to produce.
The Netflix deal comes just a little more than a month after Chandler's Showtime pilot, 'The Vatican,' failed to earn a series order by the network. However, in light of his new endeavor, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise.
Let's all remember that Netflix shows are doing extremely well nowadays. 'Orange Is the New Black' and 'House of Cards' have both earned multiple nominations throughout this awards season and have received positive reviews from critics across the board. So if tradition keeps up, Chandler could very well have another substantial TV hit on his hands. Only time will tell.
