‘Thor’ Co-star Jaimie Alexander Takes Up the ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’

Looks like the ‘Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ bus is making a stop at Asgard to pick up Lady Sif.

ABC president Paul Lee (no relation to Stan) has announced that Jaimie Alexander, an emerging star from the ‘Thor’ film franchise, will be reprising her role in the Marvel television series for its fifteenth episode. He also hinted at an arc in the second half of the season that will reveal the identity of the enigmatic Clairvoyant, who has been the villainous puppet master thus far.

Alexander is no stranger to TV guest spots, with arcs on ‘Kyle XY,’ ‘Nurse Jackie,’ and ‘Covert Affairs,’ among others. Last year Alexander was also considered for the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming 'Man of Steel' sequel (which would have been awesome).

In ‘Thor’ comics and subsequent film adaptations, Sif has been portrayed as a strong warrior and friend to the hammer-throwing Asgardian, and now and then as Thor’s on-again, off-again love interest when he’s not making out with Jane Foster (played by Natalie Portman). Sif’s appearance in the struggling ‘S.H.I.E.L.D’ series is the latest attempt by producers to link the show with the larger Marvel family, including the upcoming guest role of Stan Lee

Viewers and comic book fans have been frustrated before by crossover marketing stunts, which ultimately act as a commercial for an upcoming film release, and have little dramatic impact on the show itself. Here’s hoping Sif will get some appropriately kick-ass goddess moments – and while we’re at it, maybe a spin-off series featuring her and the Warriors Three.

I agree it is about the people dealing the superheroes but we need to see the interaction between SHIELD and the superheroes.  The introduction of the odd superhero is the perfect way to get this point across and to tie this show to the bigger marvel universe.

I think this would be a good thing to add to SHIELD, if they actually do something great with her appearance, not just "Look! a Asgardian!"

While I hear what Anonymous has said there, the show really isn't about the superheros. It's about the people that are dealing with them. And they could do a far better job at showing people what SHIELD is, what they do, how they were formed.

Will not help the show. Really, wtf were the execs thinking? Instead of tightening plots toss a face out because that always works. Problem is NO superheros appear in a world filled with them. C'mon, how hard would Squirrel Girl have been? Or one of the various kung fu fighters? Or AIM, or HYDRA? Or Doctor Doom? Shortsighted studio execs ruined this potentially excellent series.
