FX is continuing to expand their comedy brand. The network has given a 10-episode series orders to two comedies: 'Married' starring Judy Greer and Nat Faxon, and 'You're the Worst,' from writer Stephen Falk.
'Married,' written by Andrew Gurland ('Mail Order Wife'), is a rom-com with Greer and Faxon playing married couple, Lina and Russ Bowman. The proclaimed "best friends" get along great as a couple, except when it comes to the boudoir. The show is a little bit of a reunion for Greer. She not only co-stars on the network's animated comedy, 'Archer,' but she also reunites with Faxon, the Oscar-winning co-writer of 'The Descendants,' on which Greer co-starred. Jenny Slate ('House of Lies') and Brett Gelman ('Kroll Show') also star in the comedy.
Falk's 'You're the Worst,' is another rom-com, but this time it centers on two "toxic, self-destructive people fall in love despite themselves and attempt the impossible -- a relationship" (and sounds like just about every relationship I've ever been in). Chris Geere ('The Spa'), Aya Cash ('The Wolf of Wall Street'), Kether Donohue ('The Carrie Diaries') and Desmin Borges ('The Good Wife') star. Falk has a pretty stellar pedigree when it comes to complicated comedies which feature characters with a lot of emotional baggage: he's worked on 'Weeds' and 'Orange Is the New Black.'
Nick Grad, FX president of original programming, said the two comedy entries "represent the continuing expansion of our comedy brand. They are smart, funny and adult."
