Peter Capaldi's 'Doctor Who' Costume Revealed

Peter Capaldi's Doctor Who Costume Revealed

Every Time Lord needs a certain look and it seems Peter Capaldi just found his. Fans had already been given a glimpse of 'Doctor Who's 12th Doctor on set, but that was while he was still in Matt Smith's old digs. Now the British sci-fi series is finally allowing the newly regenerated Doc to fully make his mark with an official outfit of his very own.

Wearing dark blue trousers, a bleach white shirt, and black Doc Marten shoes, Capaldi's look is in many ways much more subdued and less flashy save for that glimpse of crimson liner inside his dark blue Crombie coat. And unfortunately, it seems to be the end of Matt Smith's iconic bow tie look. (RIP)

According to Entertainment Weekly — who spoke to Capaldi and lead writer/EP Steven Moffat about the ensemble — the look was created by 'Doctor Who' costume designer Howard Burden. “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord,” Capaldi remarks.

Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!” Don't say you haven't been warned.

But whether you're a fan of the new look or not (or perhaps you're still too busy mourning Smith's departure to care), it will be exciting to see where the storyline and the TARDIS go from here. I guess only "time" will tell.

Check out the full view of the new outfit below and get pumped for Season 8, Whovians!

Holy hell, what shoe size is that ? They'll need to make the TARDIS bigger just so that he can still turn around in it :) Not really diggin' the outfit but Capaldi will make it work for the character (I hope).

I suppose every Doctor has to find his identity to represent himself as that looks really dark & mysterious & got a take no shit attitude, looking forward to it,

like the Bond Franchise,  Connery was all action -> Moore was dashing & debonaire, as they were all good in their own definitive way & look how well they done, although we'll not forget Matt & Karen, as i really enjoyed the camaraderie both had were electrifying.

Wow, that'll take a little getting used to... But I don't doubt it'll grow on me.

I still remember the days I thought bow-ties were stupid (oh silly 2010 me)
