'CSI' wants to rock and roll all night, and party every day!
With that dreadful pun out of the way, let's get to the actual story that inspired it to arise from within my twisted mind. CBS has confirmed that rock icon Gene Simmons is gearing up to play himself during an upcoming fourteenth season episode of the network's veteran procedural 'CSI,' as exclusively revealed by The Hollywood Reporter.
According to 'CSI' producers Don McGill and Carol Mendelsohn, Simmons' appearance is tentatively scheduled to air during the seventeenth episode of the episode of the season, entitled 'Dear Mr. Fantasy.' Plot details are currently scarce, but McGill and Mendelsohn describe the hour as a "rock and roll themed murder mystery."
The legendary KISS guitarist and co-lead vocalist is of course no stranger to TV, having starred in his own A&E reality series with wife Shannon Tweed from 2006-2012. He has also made appearances as himself on scripted shows like 'Family Guy,' 'Castle,' 'and Ugly Betty.'
My personal favorite TV role for Mr. Simmons has got to be his turn on an incredibly bizarre 1986 episode of 'The Hitchhiker,' called 'O.D. Feelin.' Gene played a ruthless drug dealer named Mr. Big, and was willing to kill to obtain a magical bag of cocaine. The '80s were truly a wondrous decade.
Gene Simmons' 'CSI' appearance airs on Wednesday, March 12 at 10/9c.
