'Cinemax's Banshee Renewed for Third Season

With Cinemax's first original action series 'Strike Back' preparing to wrap up later this year, it will soon fall on 'Banshee' to carry on the mission of bringing blood, guns, babes, and even a little pathos to the network's viewers. Now in its second season, 'Banshee' has been a big hit so far, and shows no signs of running out of steam anytime soon. To that end, Cinemax has wasted no time in picking up the series for a third season.

For the unitiated, 'Banshee' stars New Zealand born actor Antony Starr as Lucas Hood, an ex-con and master thief who tracks down his former flame (and partner in crime) Anastasia (Ivana Milicevic) to the isolated Amish community of Banshee, PA. Anastasia has reinvented herself during Lucas' time behind bars, and now goes by the name of Carrie Hopewell.

When the town's newly arriving sheriff is killed before he can introduce himself to its residents, Lucas sees a golden opportunity, and quickly assumes the lawman's identity. Now in a position of power, Sheriff Hood sets out to get revenge on those who wronged him, win back his former love, and avoid the attention of a homicidal Ukranian ganster named Rabbit (Ben Cross), who would love nothing more than to have Lucas' head on a pike.

The fourth episode of 'Banshee's second season airs Friday, Jan. 31 at at 10/9c. Season 2 includes such big name guest stars as Odette Annable ('House,' 'Breaking In'), Zeljko Ivanek ('Damages,' 'The Event') and Julian Sands ('24,' 'Warlock,' dozens of other movies and TV shows).

Second darkest, after True Detective, show out there. Has to be the most brutal though. One interesting point all the main female characters have relatively small breasts. None of the big fake ones Hollywood seems to love. Makes them all look lithe, like jungle cats.
