Jack Davenport is about to make a "smashing" comeback to the small screen. According to Deadline, the British actor has just landed the lead male role in ABC's upcoming 'Twin Peaks'-esque drama pilot, 'Sea of Fire.'
Davenport — who will star opposite of 'Dexter's very own Jennifer Carpenter — will play Marty Kesowich, the easy-going, local sheriff who teams up with FBI Agent Leah Pierce (Carpenter) to unravel the mystery of a young girl’s disappearance.
But as they dig deeper into the investigation, dark secrets emerge and the suspect list points somewhere close to Marty's home — like in the form of his daughter, Merel (played by Isabelle Cornish). Suffice to say, things are bound to get complicated.
Though Davenport found little luck over at NBC in the musical drama 'Smash' (which only lasted two seasons), perhaps a much better fate lies in store for him in this ABC series, which is already lining up an impressive and intriguing cast. But only time will tell. (Let's just hope he's able to keep the accent!)
Based on the Dutch series 'Vuurzee,' the pilot was penned by 'Scandal‘s Jenna Bans, who will serve as an executive producer alongside Rob Golenberg, Laurie Zaks, Alon Aranya, David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, Robert Kievit, and Frank Ketelaar.
