One of America's biggest '90s heartthrobs is making his way to ABC...or, at least, that's the plan, anyway. According to Entertainment Weekly, Ryan Phillippe is in final negotiations for the lead role in the network’s upcoming drama pilot 'Secrets & Lies.'
Based on an Australian crime mystery series, the show will center around a family man (Phillippe) who finds the body of a young boy and quickly becomes the prime murder suspect. He has no choice but to try to find the real killer as his marriage, his kids, his reputation, and his sanity are all at stake.
'Private Practice's Barbie Kligman will pen the script and serve as an executive producer, while 'Desperate Housewives’ Charles McDougall is on board to direct.
But this won't be the actor's first appearance on the small screen. On the contrary, Phillippe actually got his first big break back in 1992 on the popular soap opera, 'One Life to Live,' where he portrayed the first gay teen character on daytime TV.
He also appeared on the TV series 'Damages' back in 2012. And, of course, who could forget his popular silver screen hits back in the late '90s: 'I Know What You Did Last Summer' and 'Cruel Intentions.'
