'House of Cards' Renewed for Third Season

'House of Cards' Renewed for Third Season

With less than two weeks to go before its second season gets dropped en masse on Netflix, ‘House of Cards’ has been renewed for a third season.

The original series by the streaming service provider has become Netflix’s flagship show, racking up acclaim and awards, including directing, cinematography, and acting.

Starring Kevin Spacey as savvy, manipulative, and oh so charming Congressman Frank Underwood, ‘House of Cards’ first impressive season follows the South Carolina native as he seeks power and vengeance in the seedy District of Columbia. Robin Wright stars as his wife, and won a Golden Globe earlier this year for her portrayal of Claire Underwood, an equally conniving and politically-minded Washington player.

Initially packaged as a two-season deal, based on the success of the first year and the anticipation of the second, this doesn’t come as too much a surprise that another season has been ordered.

In fact, this news was rumored back in October and seemed only to hinge on the availability of its main stars, Spacey and Wright, who tend towards features films.

Production on a third season is set to begin soon.

Season 2 will be released on Netflix on Feb. 14, with Underwood continuing his rise to power, having expertly manipulated his way to the office of the Vice Presidency by the end of the first season.

Was there ever really any doubt this would get picked up again? Netflix shows are much better than a lot of shows airing on primetime tv. I'm sure the same will happen with Orange is the New Black.

Sorry, but although Kevin does a nice job in this series, the series is not original. It's a remake of the English series of 20-30 years ago. Old script, new jacket!
