It looks like Pantene just got a bit quirkier now that they have named Zooey Deschanel as the new face of their hair care products.
The “New Girl” star will be joining the Beautiful Lengths campaign, a program that works to encourage women to donate their luscious locks so that they can be made into a real hair wigs. These wigs are then distributed by the American Cancer Society free of charge to those who have lost their own hair while undergoing cancer treatments. The cause might be the biggest draw of all for Deschanel who stated that “you can’t put a price on” helping these brave women who are battling the disease.
Marketing director of North American Hair Care for Proctor & Gamble, Kevin Crociata described Deschanel as a “breath of fresh air” who he felt was perfect to represent the Beautiful Lengths collection. This line of products in particular, is aimed at helping women to maintain strong, healthy hair, a look certainly represented by the brunette’s gorgeous head of hair. Deschanel herself recently told Allure that she, unfortunately, would not be lining up to chop her locks due to obligations pertaining to her acting roles.
Most recently, Deschanel has been charming audiences as Jess on Fox’s freshman comedy, “New Girl,” which was renewed for a second season in April. In addition, she’s appeared in films such as “(500) Days of Summer,” “Elf,” and “Yes Man” with heavy hitters such as Jim Carrey and Will Farrell.
Deschanel joins the ranks of other notable starlets such as Naomi Watts and Eva Mendes to represent the brand. In true “quirky girl” fashion, when asked about her latest venture into the world of hair care she stated, “I am so excited to be a part of the Pantene family. I’m really into hair. So, I just like hair, so…that sounded weird.” Not your ordinary spokeswoman, but beautiful, it seems, both inside and out.
“New Girl” airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Fox.
