The forthcoming international crime drama ‘100 Code’ has found its two leading men, as the German-born actor Dominic Monaghan will return to the small screen alongside veteran Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist, Deadline reports.
‘100 Code’ is a Red Arrow International production conceived by Robert Moresco, the Oscar-winning co-writer of the feature film ‘Crash.’ Set in Sweden, this seemingly buddy-cop, gritty mystery of sorts sends an American NYPD Detective Tommy Conley (Monaghan) overseas to observe and advise a string of strange deaths.
For a year, a string of blonde-haired, blue-eyed women have been found dead in a field of flowers in Stockholm. Conley arrives, and is paired up with veteran homicide detective Mikael Eklund (Nyqvist), a Swedish nationalist who loathes the brash, superficial American culture.
What’s more, both characters of course have some demons in their past that will eventually help explain their present cold exteriors.
It all seems less fun and quirky, and more a dark, cold thriller akin to the Swedish production, ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,’ of which Nyqvist also starred, and is probably the most popular and recent comparison to this anticipated drama.
While Nyqvist is perhaps best known for that screen trilogy, having also starred in ‘Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol’ fighting Tom Cruise, Monaghan has too a film trilogy to his credit. The actor, maybe better known for his role on ‘Lost,’ graced the big screen in ‘The Lord of the Rings’ (he was one of the hobbits, Sneezy or Dopey, I think).
Filming is set to begin in April in Sweden, while the show has yet to be shopped around to U.S. networks.
