The new Netflix show from 'Damages' creators found their matriarch. It was announced today that Oscar-winning actress Sissy Spacek will join the drama series.
It was just yesterday when we wrote about Linda Cardellini's casting in the psychological thriller and wondering who else might join such an awesome cast that already entails Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn.
Well, looks like our casting wishes have been answered. And Spacek, who made her big (bloody) splash in the original 'Carrie' film, certainly knows what to bring to a story revolving around (potentially scary) secrets.
The untitled project, created by Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, Glenn Kessler and Sony Pictures TV, centers around three close adult siblings (Mendelsohn, Chandler, Cardellini) whose battle scars come to light when the blacksheep of the family (Mendelsohn) returns to town. If family has taught us anything it's that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, so Spacek, as mom Sally, most definitely will have some secrets of her own that will probably need some explaining.
The casting marks Spacek's first regular television series role, although she has garnered three Emmy award nominations in the past, including her guest role on HBO's 'Big Love.' The highly pedigreed actress has been nominated for five Academy awards, and won the Best Actress Oscar for 'Coal Miner's Daughter.'
The 13-episode series begins shooting next month in Florida.
