It's Official: 'Psych's Eighth Season Will Be Its Last
It's said that all good things must come to an end, which is exactly what's happening to the long-running comedy series 'Psych.' USA Network confirmed the cancellation earlier today, announcing that the show's current eighth season would be its last.
Series creator Steve Franks further solidified the news via Twitter by providing a goodbye message, of sorts, to all of their fans. "It has been an amazing joyride these last eight years. Thanks to everyone who tagged along for the journey," Franks wrote.
The comedy — which stars Dulé Hill and James Roday — will wrap up its final run on Wednesday, March 26 at 9/8c with the entire cast and Franks taking part in a one-hour live show and Q&A immediately afterward, titled 'Psych After Show.'
"'Psych' has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy,” Chris McCumber, President of USA Network, said in a statement (via Entertainment Weekly). “The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series’ incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don’t believe we’ve heard the last of Shawn and Gus.”
Anyone else catch that last sentence? Perhaps fans can expect a 'Psych'-based movie sometime in the near future?!
Either way, it's still the end of a very beloved era for many Psychos out there, which is why Roday and Hill decided to put together a little parting gift for all their dedicated followers. So grab a tub of your favorite ice cream and check out the special message below. (We feel your pain, Hill!)
That's bad news, Kelly Schremph. The writing is very inconsistant. Usually it sucks. But since it's a character-driven show, it usually doesn't matter. They're a fun, likeable cast doing their best with silly scripts. When the scripts are clever-silly, it's an hour well-spent. I'll miss the supporting cast even more than Shawn & Gus.
(Gus should really have that tapeworm taken care of.)

I wept when I read the news. Pysch I stumbled upon while it was still on it's first season. I was going to say it was relatively unknown back then, but that's an understatement. Being from England aswell it's even more unknown! Excellent series. Let's hope it ends on a bang. I will be re-watching every episode very soon.
