It's time to finally meet the rest of 'Scandal's First Family. As reported just last week, the ABC political drama has been hard at work finding just the right actors to play Fitz and Mellie's older (and unseen) children, Jerry and Karen. And it appears their search is now officially over.
TVLine has exclusively learned that Dylan Minnette and Madeline Carroll have landed the coveted roles of the First Kids and will appear in Episode 15 of the current third season. That's only five episodes away! (Note: the midseason finale back in December marked the end of Episode 10.)
And don't be surprised if you think Minnette and Carroll look somewhat familiar. They should. Both of them have been guest stars on ABC's former island-centric drama, 'Lost,' as Jack Shephard’s son and young Ben Linus’ gal pal Annie, respectively. And now they have to go back!...to ABC.
The duo also both appeared on The Hub’s anthology series 'R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour.'
Separate TV credits for Minnette include a brief stint in a recent episode of 'Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' where he played Donnie Gill (Blizzard). He also starred as Jason Isaac’s son, Rex Britten, in 'Awake.' Meanwhile, Carroll has guested on 'NCIS' and 'Cold Case,' as well as Shondaland’s two popular medical dramas 'Grey’s Anatomy' and 'Private Practice.'
Many find it strange that fans haven't seen the President and First Lady's older children up until this point, so it'll be intriguing to see what bringing them into the picture now could mean for the fate of Fitz and Mellie's marriage. Will their presence pull them closer together or draw them further apart? Only time will tell.
'Scandal' returns from its winter break on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 10/9c on ABC.
