Looks like some girls are still out of Jay Baruchel's league. The 'Undeclared' alum has been cast in the new FX comedy pilot, 'Man Seeking Woman,' a series that is described as "a sweet and absurd look at the life-and-death stakes of dating.”
The pilot is based on 'SNL' writer Simon Rich's book, 'The Last Girlfriend On Earth, Man Seeking Woman' and centers on a romantic-but-naive guy, Josh Greenberg (Baruchel), who is thrust back into the dating world after his long-time girlfriend dumps him. He realizes that dating is actually this really horrible thing that humans must endure, but he continues with it in the hopes of finding his one true love.
Jonathan Krisel will direct the Rich-penned pilot, produced by FX Prods. And where there is a 'SNL' alum, Lorne Michaels is not far behind. The uber-producer will executive produce alongside Rich (who, at 29 years old, also happens to be the second-youngest writer ever hired at 'SNL').
The pilot will shoot in Toronto in the spring, which should please Baruchel, a native (and rather intense) Montrealer.
Baruchel, whose film credits include 'Knocked Up,' 'Tropic Thunder' and last summer's 'This is the End,' can next be seen in this month's remake of 'Robocop.' Besides his starring role on FOX's 'Undeclared,' Baruchel's additional television credits include the legal drama 'Just Legal' and 'Popular Mechanics,' which was basically just popular in Canada.
