'Game of Thrones' Promotes Nathalie Emmanuel to Series Regular for Season 5

'Game of Thrones' Promotes Nathalie Emmanuel to Series Regular for Season 5

Though the battle for the Iron Throne wages on, at least one 'Game of Thrones' character has a reason to celebrate. Deadline reports that Nathalie Emmanuel — who was introduced last season as Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) gifted translator and trusted advisor, Missandei — will be upgraded to a series regular for the show's fifth season.

Of course, the HBO hit hasn't officially earn itself a Season 5 pick-up, but given the fantasy drama's track record in both ratings and popularity, it's all just simply a formality at this point. Besides, the characters still have so much left to accomplish! (And Joffrey hasn't been slapped nearly enough.)

Emmanuel appeared in eight of the 10 episodes of Season 3 and will continue to recur in the series' highly anticipated fourth installment. She has also landed a role in the upcoming film 'Fast & Furious 7,' proving that her popularity only continues to grow.

The actress's 'Thrones' promotion follows a similar promotion for another actor playing a character from Khaleesi’s inner circle. Michiel Huisman, who recently took over the role of the charming warrior Daario Naharis, will likewise be elevated to a series regular in the inevitable fifth season.

Going into this season, 'Game of Thrones' currently has a total of 29 series regular members — a further testament to how complex and ambitious this series truly is. Let's just hope all of our favorites get the proper amount of screen time they deserve.

And just in case you're craving a few extra teasers, HBO released a quick (and I really do mean quick) video of Season 4 footage via Instagram. You can see the Youtube version below:

'Game of Thrones' Season 4 premieres Sunday, April 6 at 9/8c on HBO.

Haven't read the books, I admit. But looking forward to how her part will grow.

LOL just delete my comment and fix the artcle. Nice job. I take flattery and see the comedy in that rather than take offense

This is so exciting! Her character has been a great addition in my opinion. April can't get here soon enough.

Only series watchers should not reply here with complaints about not being intrested in this character. This girl has quite the important role in the books next to Dany. Maybe it's smarter to just react like the person above me.

The show should focus more on Dany, not her.

Sweet she looks hot

Eh, I'm more interested in the Westeros plot than with this character.

Will be interested to see what they do with her character. Maybe get a little bit of backstory.
