While it's ratings as of late haven't exactly been setting the world on fire, CBS sitcom 'The Crazy Ones' is still doing well enough to add a new recurring player to its merry band of wackos.
For those unaware, 'The Crazy Ones' was created by super producer David E. Kelley ('Boston Legal,' 'Chicago Hope,' 'Picket Fences'), and is loosely based on the real life experiences of executive producer John R. Montgomery (who previously worked in advertising for over 30 years). The series stars comedy icon Robin Williams in his first regular TV role since 'Mork & Mindy' ended back in 1982.
Williams portrays madcap ad executive Simon Roberts (a character partially inspired by Montgomery himself), co-founder and CEO of the high profile agency Lewis, Roberts, and Roberts. The other Roberts in the name refers to Simon's daughter Sydney ('Buffy's Sarah Michelle Gellar), who is apparently both "so fine and one of a kind," at least according to guest star Josh Groban. Simon's other founding partner is Gordon Lewis, played by 'Everybody Loves Raymond' star Brad Garrett.
Garrett's character is a buttoned up workaholic, which doesn't sit well with his (until now) offscreen husband Timothy. Timothy is a free spirited former Olympic swimmer, and constantly finds himself frustrated with Gordon's overly scheduled nature. Well, Timothy is apparently no longer satisfied living his life on the periphery, and will soon be joing his spouse as a recurring member of 'The Crazy Ones' cast, according to TVLine.
Playing the potentially juicy role will be Uruguayan American actor Jonathan Del Arco. Del Arco is best known for his ongoing work as Dr. Morales on the TNT drama 'Major Crimes' (and its progenitor series 'The Closer'), and has also done guest spots on shows as varied as 'The Sopranos,' '24,' 'Nip/Tuck,' 'Boy Meets World,' 'Blossom,' and 'The Wonder Years.' He is also quite active on the Broadway stage.
'The Crazy Ones' airs its next new episode on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 9/8c. Del Arco will make his first appearance as Timothy in April.
