New ‘Salem’ Trailer Teases There’s ‘Nothing Worse Than a Witch Hunt’
If you’re ready for even more supernatural goodness on your television, then WGN America’s first scripted series ‘Salem’ should be right up your alley.
Last night during ‘The Walking Dead’s return to AMC, a brand new trailer for ‘Salem’ aired showcasing witches, witch hunts, creatures, fires and all kinds of bewitching elements.
As you can see from the video posted below, the trailer teases the appearances of full-time cast members Shane West, as leading man John Alden, Seth Gabel, as head witch hunter Cotton Mather, Janet Montgomery, as lead sorceress Mary Sibley, and Ashley Madekwe, as Mary Sibley’s “ageless and exotic” right-hand lady, Tituba.
The video is quite dark, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Also, let’s discuss the above photo. The man in the stocks is Isaac Walton aka Iddo Goldberg aka Madekwe’s real-life husband. Goldberg will recur on the series, and as Madekwe told TV Guide in December about Goldberg’s character, “He's a guy who gets the word fornicator branded on his forehead. You know those Puritans; they looked down on fornication."
The witch-filled series is set in 17th century Massachusetts and will revolve around the time before the infamous Salem witch trials, all while exploring what fueled the trials. I don’t know about you, but I sure am ready for some witches.
‘Salem’ premieres this spring on April 20 on WGN America.
