‘The Flash’ Pilot Adds ‘Ed’ Alum Tom Cavanagh

Ed Stevens is leaving Stuckeyville and heading to Central City. Tom Cavanagh, who made a name for himself on NBC’s ‘Ed,’ has officially joined The CW’s ‘The Flash’ pilot in one intelligent and explosive role.

Cavanagh will play Harrison Wells in the ‘Arrow’ spin-off. Not only is Wells an amazing physicist, but he also happens to be the man responsible for making Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) into the fastest man in the world.

As the creator of Central City’s S.T.A.R. Labs Particle Accelerator, Wells becomes the town’s outcast after the accelerator explodes. Eventually, he finds some deliverance from the massive mishap when he realizes how the explosion has transformed Barry Allen.

Like Cavanagh, several others have also joined ‘The Flash.’ Here’s a short rundown:

-Candice Patton (‘The Game’) will play Barry’s best friend Iris West.
-Jesse L. Martin (‘Law & Order’) joins as Iris’ father, a Central City Detective and Barry’s father figure/mentor.
-Broadway’s Carlos Valdes is set to star as engineering genius Cisco Roman.
-’The Vampire Diaries’ Rick Cosnett will play Detective Eddie Thawne.
-Danielle Panabaker (‘Necessary Roughness’) joins the project as bioengineering expert Caitlin Snow.

In addition to playing the good guy on ‘Ed,’ Cavanagh is also known for starring as Jack O’Malley on ‘Royal Pains,’ Jeremy Stone on ‘Eli Stone,’ Conner on ‘Trust Me,’ and Dan Dorian on ‘Scrubs.’

Looking forward to the show. The last one suffered from an extraordinarily high price tag and didn't make it past a year (If I recall). Hopefully 20+ years later the price has come down a bit on the special effects.
