The Conner matriarch is about to make her mark on ‘The Millers.’ TVLine has exclusively learned that Roseanne Barr will once again return to the small screen and guest star on CBS’ freshman hit comedy later this season.
As for who exactly she’ll be playing, the actress has landed the part of Darla — the hyper-critical mother of Nathan’s (Will Arnett) co-worker Doug, portrayed by fellow guest star actor, Andy Richter. Possibly the best mother-son comedy duo ever? We’ll just have to wait and see. (Anyone else predicting a mama’s boy type of situation here?)
Barr became something of a ‘90s sitcom icon during her helm as the dominant, sarcastic, and all-around awesome lead star of ‘Roseanne.’ With her, women weren’t just happy homemakers meant to sit on the sidelines. They were a force to be reckoned with. So needless to say, her fierce comical presence and overall pluck will be both a welcome and appreciated asset to the series.
Additionally, this gig will reunite the TV vet with ‘The Millers’ creator Greg Garcia, who cast Barr in a 2006 episode of his former NBC comedy show ‘My Name is Earl.’
As of now, it remains unclear when exactly this episode will take place, but rest assured it’ll be sometime before season’s end. And who knows — perhaps it could eventually turn into more than just a one-time occurrence.
Besides ‘Roseanne,’ Barr’s most recent TV credits include arcs on ‘The Office’ as well as ‘Portlandia.’
