Today it was announced that Matt Barr is returning to The CW as the male lead of the new drama pilot ‘Identity.’
Barr will star opposite ‘The Help’s Ahna O’Reilly, who was recently cast as the female lead, Mia. The show revolves around young New Yorker Mia, who is in need of an organ transplant in order to live. Enter Barr’s character, Davis, who is Mia’s half-brother and only living relative to provide Mia with an organ. He is described as the “charming, privileged only son of a wealthy and powerful Charleston family.”
Soon enough, Mia connects with Davis and his family, but then comes trouble. The CIA is investigating the family for domestic terrorism, and now the government organization wants Mia to become their newest informant.
Like Mia, Davis’ bond grows with his sister, and leads him to start questioning his family’s villainous plans.
Barr getting cast in another CW show just might have ‘One Tree Hill’ and ‘Hellcats’ fans screaming with joy. Yes, he might have played Peyton’s (Hilarie Burton) stalker on ‘OTH,’ but he was fantastic as creepy Derek. He also made a name for himself as Dan in the short-lived ‘Hellcats,’ as Johnse Hatfield in ‘Hatfields & McCoys,’ and, of course, as Sully on the miniseries ‘Harper’s Island.’
‘Identity’ is executive produced by ‘Sleepy Hollow’s Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci.
