Alyson Hannigan will be sticking around CBS even after 'How I Met Your Mother' ends this season.
Hannigan has signed on to play the female lead in comedian Tom Papa's 'More Time With Family,' a multi-camera comedy that centers on a husband and father (Papa) making a career change to spend...you guessed it...more time with family.
Hannigan will play Papa's on-screen wife Cindy Rizzo, who is described as an amazing mother who runs the house like a drill sergeant and has endless energy. She's tasked with trying to teach Tom how to handle the family after his recent career change.
'More Time With Family' is based on Papa's stand-up, and some of co-executive producer Matt Damon's life experiences.
Papa co-wrote the pilot script with 'Til Death's Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa. All three will executive produce, along with Damon, Ben Affleck, Dave Becky, and Josh Lieberman.
Hannigan is coming off of a run of several successful series', including 'How I Met Your Mother' and 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer.' Hopefully she'll be able to bring the same success to 'More Time With Family.' This will be a bit of a departure for Hannigan, as her previous roles have been a bit more juvenile (including her adorably perfect marriage with perpetual-child Marshall Eriksen (Jason Segel) on 'HIMYM.')
With this new role, Hannigan becomes the first of the original 'HIMYM' cast members to book a follow-up pilot for next season. Final season regular Cristin Milioti (a.k.a. the titular "Mother") just signed on
for the female lead in the NBC rom-com pilot 'A to Z.'
