-'Orange Is the New Black' will return for its second season on Netflix on Friday, June 6. First reported by BuzzFeed, the release date was stealthily announced at the end of the ‘House of Cards’ Season 2 finale. Also, be sure to check out the new promo for ‘Orange’ right here:
-It looks like ‘The Simpsons’ is getting the Lego treatment. Not only is the animated series getting a special edition Lego set with more than 2,500 pieces, but it will also air a special Lego episode (its 550th) on Sunday, May 4 at 8/7c, where everyone is made of Legos.
-David James Elliott (‘JAG,’ ‘GCB’) has joined FOX’s pilot ‘Here’s Your Damn Family,’ alongside Jane Kaczmarek. The comedy comes from ‘The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki, and Elliott will play Kaczmarek’s new hubby.
-Michael Imperioli (‘The Sopranos’) will play the lead in ABC’s new comedy pilot ‘Saint Francis.’ He’ll play blue-collar, no-nonsense Long Island cop Francis Quinlan. Things change when his 29-year-old sister gets pregnant out of wedlock.
-Lifetime is developing a TV movie, from the producer of ‘Hatfields & McCoys,’ titled ‘The One,’ Deadline reports. The “coming-of-age story” is said to explore Jesus’ early life and formative years.
-FOX has found Mamie Gummer’s replacement for Rainn Wilson’s ‘Backstrom.’ Genevieve Angelson (‘House of Lies’) will play Detective Nicole Gravely, who is second in command to Wilson’s Det. Backstrom and described as “admirable,” “focused,” “intuitive,” “good-humored,” “proud” and “empathetic.”
-With ‘Murder, She Wrote’ out the window, Octavia Spencer will now star in FOX’s drama pilot, ‘Red Band Society,’ from Steven Spielberg. She’ll play Nurse Jackson in the project that focuses on teenagers who meet as patients in the children’s wing of a hospital.
