New ‘Game of Thrones’ Season 4 Trailer Promises Vengeance
Fans of the epic HBO series have been waiting for the long winter to pass, but this new trailer will have to quench their thirst for Iron Throne action.
HBO has been stepping up its promotional game of late with a Vine clip showing Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, atop her own throne (though not made of iron). A 15-minute behind-the-scenes preview entitled ‘Ice and Fire: A Foreshadowing’ was also posted online, giving glimpses into the new season with interviews from the cast and executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss. The hints dropped were appropriately vague, but what was stressed is that instead of building to a big finale, the action will be steady throughout – heads will hit the ground rolling.
Remember that wedding you went to last year where everyone you know and love was ambushed and brutally executed? Oh, right, that was Season 3. Viewers can anticipate a similar social event with the upcoming marriage between King Joffrey and Margaery Tyrell; be sure to keep all gift receipts just in case. Judging by the new footage, a lot of people are going to get the ol' valar morghulis, if you know what I mean.
As fans of George R.R. Martin’s massive book series can attest, changes are on the way. Given how split the narrative becomes in later novels, with some characters being absent from hundreds of pages, it will be interesting to see what creative choices are in store for the television adaptation. Season 4 of HBO’s fantasy series premieres Sunday, April 6 at 9/8c on HBO. Check out the latest trailer below.
