FOX’s origin series ‘Gotham’ is growing by the minute, and this time around the drama is welcoming ‘Hawthorne’s Jada Pinkett Smith.
It looks like Smith will be taking on one big bad series regular role. That’s right, she has been selected to portray Fish Mooney, who is said to be a sadistic gang boss and nightclub owner. Not only does she possess street smarts, Fish can read people like no other. Oh, and she’s also quite the hothead, meaning you don’t want to cross her or wrong her -- ever.
As a villainous gangster, Fish, of course, employs other criminals, including low-level psychopath Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, who will be played by Robin Lord Taylor.
In addition to Fish and The Penguin, ‘Gotham’ viewers can also expect Sean Pertwee as the famous butler Alfred Pennyworth, Zabryna Guevara as Captain Essen, and Erin Richards as Barbara Kean (James Gordon’s future wife).
Before Smith’s casting, the latest actor to join the series was ‘Sons of Anarchy’ and ‘Vikings’ star Donal Logue. He’ll play Detective Harvey Bullock, Gordon’s partner and mentor.
Last September, ‘Gotham’ was ordered straight to series and will follow the origin story of James Gordon (who will be played by ‘Southland’s Ben McKenzie) and the villains, like Fish and The Penguin, who made Gotham famous and an attraction for all kinds of unique criminals.
