'Private Practive' alum KaDee Strickland is returning to ABC to co-star with Ryan Phillippe and Juliette Lewis in the new drama pilot 'Secrets & Lies,' Deadline
The series is based on an upcoming Australian crime mystery series of the same name, and centers on Ben Garner (Phillippe), a family man who becomes the prime suspect in the murder of a young boy after he is the one to find the body. Ben is then forced into his own search for the real killer in order to save his reputation, as well as his marriage and family, all of which are in shambles.
Strickland will take on the role of Ben's wife, Christy, whose feelings towards Ben are complicated by the discovery of the neighbor boy's body, and her husband being named the number one suspect.
Strickland joins the cast which includes Phillippe
, Juliette Lewis
as Detective Andrea Cornell, who leads the case against Ben, 'Under the Dome's Natalie Martinez
as the dead boy's devastated mother, and Belle Shouse as Ben and Christy's younger daughter Abby. Barbie Kligman will serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner.
This series is shaping up to be ABC's competition for FOX's 'Gracepoint,' a remake itself of the BBC murder mystery miniseries 'Broadchurch.' We'll just have to see which series, and which twist ending (doesn't every murder mystery have one?) captivates more viewers this fall.
