Maybe Elisha Cuthbert will get her happy ending, after all. Or, at least, get happy. The 'Happy Endings' alum has been tapped to star in the new NBC comedy pilot 'One Big Happy.'
According to Deadline, the Canadian actress has landed the female lead opposite Nick Zano in the multi-camera comedy from the queen of happy, Ellen DeGeneres, and Warner Bros TV. DeGeneres is producing the project through her company, A Very Good Production (no pressure or anything).
The pilot, which is written by Liz Feldman and directed by Scott Ellis (both from '2 Broke Girls' fame), centers on two platonic best friends, Lizzy (Cuthbert), a lesbian, and Luke (Zano), who's straight (shades of 'Will & Grace,' anyone?). The two live together and have been trying to get pregnant via artificial insemination for some time. The couple (or best friends, whatever) finally conceive, just as Luke meets and marries the love of his life. Uh-oh. The "love of his life" has yet to be cast.
Cuthbert and her 'Happy Endings' cast members remain pretty popular since the FOX/USA comedy series called it quits. Casey Wilson has also been scooped up this pilot season by NBC, while Damon Wayans Jr. and Adam Pally continue with their roles on 'New Girl' and 'The Mindy Project,' respectively.
Cuthbert is obviously not a stranger to TV. She rose to fame with her role on FOX's '24' and appeared on the Canadian TV series 'Popular Mechanics' as a child, alongside Jay Baruchel.
