The CW’s latest drama pilot, ‘iZombie,’ from the ‘Veronica Mars’ team of Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero, is welcoming some familiar faces to its cast.
Based on the DC Comics ‘iZombie,’ this adaptation is a supernatural crime procedural revolving around Liv, a medical-student-turned-zombie working in the coroner’s office, where she analyzes human bodies aka she eats their brains to survive and to maintain her humanity.
However, there’s a side effect to her “diet” -- which would probably be the case for anyone chomping on some human remains -- as Liv also inherits the corpses' memories.
Now, for the cast. First up, we have ‘Breakout Kings’ alum Malcolm Goodwin who will co-lead the drama. He is set to play Clive, Liv’s boss and a police detective, who’s been in need of making a case since his recent promotion from vice to homicide. At first doubtful of Liv’s “psychic” powers, Clive soon becomes somewhat convinced due to her accurate “predictions.” The two begin solving homicide cases, which not only puts the bad guys behind bars, but also quiets the voices inside her head.
Next up we have David Anders, known for his roles on ‘The Vampire Diaries,’ ‘Once Upon a Time’ and ‘Alias.’ He joins the drama as, you guessed it, the villain. Named Blaine, he is described as “an entitled rich kid who bites off more than he can chew in the drug business.” Per usual Anders fashion, I have no doubt he’ll pull of the villainous role beautifully.
Lastly, we have Alexandra Krosney (‘Last Man Standing’), who will portray Peyton, Liv’s best friend and roommate. Not only is she confused by Liv’s recent behavior, but she also feels the two are drifting apart.
The lead role of Liv has yet to be cast.
