Is there anything Paris Geller can't do? The answer is no. No there isn't.
ABC announced yesterday that Liza Weil — who many fans will remember as Rory's extremely (and sometimes overly ambitious) best friend and college roommate on 'Gilmore Girls' — has been cast in Shonda Rhimes' upcoming drama pilot 'How To Get Away With Murder.'
The actress joins Viola Davis, who was just cast as the lead role earlier this week. The law school-based legal thriller will center on ambitious law students and their brilliant, yet mysterious, criminal defense professor (Davis), who become entangled in a murder plot that could rock their entire university and change the course of their lives.
So who exactly will Weil be playing? She has been cast as one of the professor's (Davis) two associates, though no specifics or even a name has been given out yet. But there's still plenty of time for all that.
Back in her 'Gilmore Girl' days, Weil's character Paris had a difficult time choosing between law school and medical school. In the end, she decided to pursue the medical route. But now thanks to this latest bit of casting news, it seems we'll be able to see those unstoppable courtroom skills after all.
Aside from 'Gilmore Girls,' Weil has earned several other TV credits throughout the years, including stints on 'CSI,' 'In Plain Sight,' and 'Grey's Anatomy.' Oh, and let's not forget her very pivotal role during the first season of another popular Rhimes drama — 'Scandal.'
Peter Nowalk will pen the script, as well as executive produce alongside Rhimes and Beers. Michael Offer has been nabbed to direct.
