TVRage Bulletin: ‘Hieroglyph’ Casts Lead, ‘Bones’ Adds Arastoo’s Mom & More!


In addition to all of the other news we’ve been reporting, here are a few entertainment and TV headlines you might have missed:

-Max Brown (‘Beauty and the Beast’) has been cast in the leading role of Ambrose in FOX’s ‘Hieroglyph,’ Deadline reports. Set in ancient Egypt, Ambrose is a notorious thief now serving the Pharaoh (Reece Ritchie).

-According to The Hollywood Reporter, ‘Grimm’s Shohreh Aghdashloo is joining the cast of ‘Bones’ as Arastoo’s (Pej Vahdat) mother, Deena Vaziri. She comes to town in hopes of meeting Arastoo’s girlfriend, Cam (Tamara Taylor), but things don’t go according to plan.

-Vince Gilligan and David Shore’s crime drama, ‘Battle Creek,’ is welcoming Dean Winters (‘Law & Order: SVU’). He is set to play the smart, tough and pragmatic Detective Russ Agnew. However, no one wants to be his partner due to his mean and gruff reputation.

-Jaime Pressly is reuniting with Ethan Suplee (‘My Name Is Earl’) on her TV Land comedy, ‘Jennifer Falls.’ Suplee has landed the series regular role of Wayne, Jennifer’s (Pressly) brother. He’s replacing the previously cast Joel David Moore (‘Bones’).

-In another TV reunion, Sarah Baker will join her former ‘Go On’ co-star, Matthew Perry, in his new comedy, ‘The Odd Couple.’ She’ll play Oscar’s (Perry) assistant, Sam, who spends most of her time apologizing for Oscar’s latest offensive rant.

-‘FlashForward’s Bryan F. O’Byrne will play the lead role of Quigg, a powerful and mysterious man working for the Pentagon in ABC’s drama pilot ‘Exposed,’ revolving around investigative journalist Anna who goes above and beyond to uncover the truth.

-David Schwimmer’s comedy pilot, ‘Irreversible,’ is welcoming Jessica Knappett (‘Drifters’) and Iris Bahr (‘Svetlana’) as female leads. Knappett will play Andy’s (Schwimmer) neurotic and morning show host love Sarah, while Bahr will play Stacey, Sarah’s older and less mature sister.

-Henry Simmons (‘NYPD Blue,’ ‘Ravenswood’) will star alongside Michael Imperioli (‘The Sopranos’) and Paget Brewster (‘Criminal Minds’) in ABC’s pilot ‘Saint Francis.’ Simmons will play Francis’ (Imperioli) business partner at the bar they own.
