In addition to all of the other news we’ve been reporting, here are a few entertainment and TV headlines you might have missed:
-FOX’s origin series, ‘Gotham,’ has added ‘The Mentalist’s Drew Powell in a villainous role. He is set to play Butch Gilzean, the clever and ambitious second-in command to Jada Pinkett Smith’s gangster boss Fish Mooney.
-Rob Brown (‘Treme’) has joined NBC’s church drama pilot ‘Salvation,’ also starring Ashley Judd. Brown will portray Miles Strickland, the adopted son of Jennifer (Judd) and Daniel Strickland (a mega-church pastor who suddenly dies), who returns home after six years.
-Benito Martinez (‘Sons of Anarchy,’ ‘House of Cards’) and W. Earl Brown (‘Deadwood’) have both joined ABC’s drama pilot ‘American Crime,’ from ‘12 Years a Slave’ Oscar-winning writer John Ridley. Martinez will play Alonzo, the hard-working widowed father whose son is accused of murdering a war veteran. Brown will play Tom, father to Lily, the widow of the murdered war vet.
-The FOX comedy ‘Dead Boss,’ starring Jane Krakowski, is welcoming two new actors. First, Justine Lupe (‘Harry’s Law’) will take on the role of Laura, Helen’s (Krakowski) well-intentioned sister who takes over Helen’s job and life. Next, Ravi Patel (‘Super Fun Night’) will play Henry, co-worker to Helen who is also obsessed with her.
-The CBS drama pilot ‘Red Zone’ has added ‘Dexter’s Aimee Garcia and Shanley Caswell (‘The Middle’). Garcia has snagged the role of Vera Bradley (not the designer), a case officer with the CIA’s Counter-Terrorism unit. Meanwhile, Caswell will play the lead character’s daughter.
-In other pilot news, ‘Hostages’ alum Billy Brown has been cast in the Shonda Rhimes ABC drama ‘How to Get Away With Murder.’ He’ll play Nate, a respected detective who is having an affair with Annalise (Viola Davis), but gets caught by Alfred Enoch’s (‘Harry Potter’) Wes.
-Over the weekend it was announced that Tituss Burgess (‘30 Rock’) will join Tina Fey and Robert Carlock’s ‘Tooken,’ alongside Ellie Kemper, as a gay, larger-than-life, talented singer working as a robot in Times Square.
-Lastly, ‘Mad Men’s Rich Sommer will take on the role of Seth, best friend to Joel, armchair philosopher and father of three, in the CBS comedy pilot ‘Good Session.’
