“Jesus” is one of ‘The Messengers.’
Diogo Morgado, known for portraying Jesus in both History’s ‘The Bible’ miniseries and the film ‘Son of God,’ is coming to The CW’s pilot ‘The Messengers.’
In the drama pilot, Morgado has found his calling as The Man. A mysterious figure who finds himself naked and burned in the desert, he sets out on a mission to find answers about the strange events. Let’s hope the desert’s warm enough to keep this naked man from dying of hypothermia.
The potential series follows a group of seemingly unconnected strangers who die from the energy pulse that is released when a mysterious object (a UFO?) crashes on Earth. Soon enough, they awake and realize they’re responsible for stopping the impending Apocalypse.
Alongside Morgado, the pilot will star ‘Gossip Girl’s Sofia Black-D’Elia as Erin, a single mom eager to start life anew with her young daughter, and without her hot-headed ex-husband. Joel Courtney (‘Super 8’) is also joining the drama as Peter, a loner raised in a group home who constantly gets bullied.
In addition to his two roles as Jesus, Morgado has also starred in the Portuguese telenovela ‘Laços de Sangue’ aka ‘Blood Ties.’ He also had a small part in playing a doctor, Jorge Velez, in ‘Revenge’s Season 3 premiere. Yes, he was the doctor that cozied up to Ashley and also revealed Conrad was suffering from Huntington’s disease, but only because Emily fixed his medical records to say so.
‘The Messengers’ is written by ‘Teen Wolf’s Eoghan O’Donnell and executive produced by Basil Iwanyk (‘The Expendables’).
