‘Smash’ alumna Krysta Rodriguez is heading to the CBS ‘How I Met Your Mother’ spin-off in one of the leading roles.
The actress/singer has nabbed the role of the sexy and flamboyant Juliet in the ‘How I Met Your Dad’ pilot, which follows a group of friends living in the Big Apple. Not only does Juliet run one of the most successful fashion blogs in the country, but she’s also best friends with Sally aka the leading lady played by Greta Gerwig (‘Frances Ha’).
As stated above, the offshoot pilot follows Sally, “a female Peter Pan,” who’s thinking of calling it quits with her hubby, Gavin, of one year. The potential ending of a marriage might sound sad to some, but Juliet is thrilled to learn her BFF could possibly call it quits with her boring partner.
In addition to starring as the leading lady, Gerwig will also produce the comedy with writer-executive producers Emily Spivey, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas. ‘HIMYM’s Pam Fryman will also direct. There's a good chance Gerwig will also write. Reportedly, after filming the pilot in Los Angeles, the studio might move to New York City for Gerwig.
The project recently cast Drew Tarver (‘NTSF:SD:SUV’) as Todd, Sally’s gay best friend and brother-in-law. Sally’s Type A brother Danny (Todd’s husband), Juliet’s “hot nerd” colleague Frank and the Narrator (grown-up Sally) have yet to be cast.
