David Harewood is about to start making himself at home on ABC.
The 'Homeland' alum has recently landed a role in the network's upcoming comedy pilot 'Selfie,' which follows the life of Eliza Dooley ('Doctor Who‘s Karen Gillan) — a self-obsessed twentysomething who is more concerned with “likes” than being liked.
After suffering through a very public and equally humiliating breakup, she becomes the subject of a viral video, leaving her with more social media “followers” than she ever imagined...but for all the wrong reasons. Eliza then enlists the help of a marketing expert at her company to help repair her thoroughly tarnished image.
So where exactly does Harewood come in? He'll be playing the role of Sam Saperstein, the president of the company where Eliza works. He’s described as being rich, confident, a bit eccentric, and very involved in his employee’s lives, whatever that means.
Best known for his run on 'Homeland' as Carrie and Saul's CIA boss David Estes, it will be interesting to see how the actor adjusts to a sitcom-like atmosphere and being placed in a job that's probably a little less stressful then...you know...running the CIA. Harewood's other TV credits include 'By Any Means,' 'Doctor Who,' and 'Robin Hood,' to name a few.
The single-camera project is penned by 'Suburgatory' creator Emily Kapnek, who will also serve as an executive producer. Meanwhile, Julie Anne Robinson is set to direct the pilot.
