Pilot season is in full swing, and the scoop for the comedies, dramas, thrillers and mysteries keeps on coming. Today, a bunch of casting choices were announced. So, in case you missed any, here’s a roundup of the latest actors and actresses to join these potential series.
-First up, ‘Brothers & Sisters’ and ‘666 Park Ave’ alum Dave Annable has joined Steven Spielberg’s “coming-of-age drama,” ‘Red Band Society.’ It explores the dark humor and lives of a group of teenagers who become unlikely friends while residing in a hospital. Annable will play Dr. William McAndrew, a rock star pediatric oncologist and surgeon. The FOX pilot also stars Oscar-winning actress Octavia Spencer.
-Next we have Rob Lowe’s comedy pilot ‘The Pro,’ which has just welcomed Rebecca Romijn (‘King & Maxwell’). According to The Hollywood Reporter, Romijn will play Lowe’s love interest, Margot, a driven and insecure woman, who recently lost her husband, and starts taking lessons at the prestigious L.A. Tennis & Golf Club from Lowe’s Ben.
-NBC’s ‘Ellen More or Less’ has just cast three actors. Chris Diamantopoulos (‘Episodes,’ ‘The Office’) will star opposite Stacey McGunnigle (Ellen) as her hunky colleague Jerry. The Hollywood Reporter has also learned that ‘Chuck’s Joshua Gomez will join the comedy as Ellen’s clueless and neurotic co-worker, Craig. Lastly, newcomer Tate Ellington will play male lead/potential love interest Brian, Ellen’s oldest friend and co-worker.
-Another ‘Chuck’ alum, Ryan McPartlin, has just joined NBC’s church drama, ‘Salvation,’ alongside Ashley Judd. He’s taking on the role of congressman Todd Bishop. He struggles to balance his political career and his family responsibilities.
-Mexican actor/singer Jaime Camil has just booked a series regular role on The CW’s ‘Jane the Virgin’ opposite Gina Rodriguez, Deadline exclusively reports. In his U.S. pilot debut, Camil will star as Rubio, a world-famous telenovela actor with a “surprising connection” to Jane (Rodriguez).
-Lastly, we have the ABC drama ‘Agatha,’ which has just welcomed ‘Rake’s Bojana Novakovic. First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Novakovic will play the title role of Agatha, a former convict who is now a criminologist helping her chief detective father (the two haven’t spoken in 15 years) on a disappearance. This role is second position, so if FOX renews ‘Rake,’ her ‘Agatha’ role will be recast. ‘Warehouse 13’s Aaron Ashmore (twin brother to ‘The Following’s Shawn Ashmore) also joins the potential series as the male lead, Jimmy McAuliffe. A handsome and funny “meat and potatoes” guy, Jimmy is a Philly PD beat cop living in the shadow of his father.
